KDK's R-core Tube Amp

Warnings !

Many DIYers are not familiar with "1) Tube selection".  

The heaters on these "newer tubes" are made for series connections.

Build either 600ma or 450ma heater system. Do not mix with old constant voltage tubes (ex, 6.3V heater --  they are quite different beasts as long as the heater performances are concerned).  The old tubes have no adequate  heater- cathode isolation.  They also do not light up at the same time --(Note 11 sec. turn-on spec)

Do not use R-core made for 50/60Hz power application as is. Most of them have a very long flux path - skinny shape. Thus "the Inductance values" are significantly reduced for a given  number of turns.  --> Kills R-core advantages!!

KDK developed KD33 and KD77 R-core for IST and OPT.
